Magic Mate Latte’

There’s not much new to report on the “allowing the perfect body” front.  I’m just humming along, being happy, looking forward to my trip to the Bahamas, seeing my darling great niece for the first time, and some exciting spring projects that are coming up!  Building my “stairway to heaven” for one!  More on that later.  All the clothes I am packing for the trip are fitting loosely, swimsuits are great, I’m more than happy with where I am, and fully expecting “perfection” whatever that turns out to be.  All is well.

HOWEVER, it sometimes takes some extra attention to keep my eyes on my path.  In the beginning of this journey, everything was so new and exciting.  New inspirations were just flying in and around 20 lbs were banished so effortlessly, it was easy to stay interested, focused and eager .  Then the new kind of wore off; me and my body settled into our new routines and it started to get a little harder to stay engaged and excited about this journey.  (I’m easily distracted).  I started looking for ways to spice things up and came up with this great tea!  It’s really delicious and I feel like I’m taking a magic potion every time I have a cup.

Looking for little rituals and routines is a great way to use your imagination to make yourself happy.  Take the time to create something this weekend.  And let me know if you like the Magic Mate Latte’!  Namaste’.

This hot tea is so satisfying and tasty and good for me!  I like to have a cup or two before lunch.  You can find all of these ingredients at great prices at Thrive Market!  The links in the ingredients are where to buy. The links below the recipe are for information and research.

INGREDIENTS (For each cup)
Yerba Mate tea
1/4 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground turmeric.
1/2 package SweetLeaf Stevia (more or less to taste)
2 TBS coconut milk

Brew Yerba Mate according to package instructions.  I like to use the loose leaf tea and make it in a French Press, but I also have the tea bags for traveling, picnicking and being lazy.  (I tried the traditional gourd method and I was way too clumsy.)  Stir the ginger, cinnamon, turmeric and stevia into the hot tea, then add coconut milk.  Enjoy!  This would probably be even better with fresh ginger and cinnamon sticks.  If I figure out how to do that I’ll let you know.

Here are the reasons why this is such a healthy drink.  I believe Yerba Mate has an appetite suppressing effect and I KNOW that it gives me a little boost of gentle energy, with no caffeine-like jitters or let down.   Turmeric is a powerful anti-inflammatory, as well as having a long list of other health benefits.  I add it to lots of things and even sometimes take it in capsule form to make sure I’m getting plenty.  Cinnamon is a powerful antioxidant and tastes wonderful.  Ginger aids in digestion, among other great benefits.  And coconut milk, well it’s just plain awesome; a fabulous substitute for milk or cream and my body really loves it.

Taking the time to brew up a cup of this before lunch gives me time to reflect on what to have for lunch and makes it a smaller meal.
